Ten years after Leon Charney’s passing, we remember not only the man, but the path he chose and the responsibility he entrusted to us.

Leon believed in courageous diplomacy, in dialogue even when it seemed impossible, and in the human capacity to choose a different future. He understood that peace is neither naïve nor passive. It requires persistence, moral clarity, and the strength to remain at the table, especially when that table feels fragile.

The enduring peace with Egypt, sustained through wars, political shifts, and turbulent times in the Middle East, reminds us that peace is not a single historical achievement. It is a living commitment, renewed generation after generation.

At the Charney Resolution Center, we carry forward not only his name, but his mission.

To our students, you are not studying theory. You are preparing to shape reality. In times when division can seem louder than dialogue, your commitment to negotiation, responsibility, and principled leadership matters more than ever.

There will be setbacks. There will be moments of doubt.

Leadership is defined not in easy times, but in difficult ones.

Do not stop believing in dialogue.
Do not retreat from complexity.
