Article: “Corona Reflections” by Shana Hazboun & Ophyr Hanan, March, April & June 2020

”I am constantly finding myself paying extra attention to everything I am touching, eating, and where I place my hands. This period of time has taken a tough toll on mental health for people all over the world. Being locked up and paranoid with no certainty when it comes to the following day really affects the way one goes on with their life. Things easing up and people slowly reintegrating back into their lives with slight changes and extra caution is something I am currently very grateful for. Overall, this pandemic has really shown me the simple pleasures that come with living a regular life. It will definitely serve as a life lesson and a reminder to be grateful constantly”.

AMBASSADOR SHANA HAZBOUN | Bethlehem, Palestine, Emis Alumni

In addition of being CRC Ambassador, Shana is the Social Media Coordinator at the Charney Resolution Center. She is currently based in Brussels, as she is studying to obtain her Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences. Her eventual goal is to get a higher degree in Social Development, and work in Palestine. At a very young age of merely 16 years old, Shana knew she felt strongly about the political sphere around her. Having been born in the same location as Jesus, the simple status of her birthplace made her very aware of her political identity, adversities, but also the serendipity of it all.

The reason I am here is because I believe this is an opportunity for me to educate, both people around me and myself. My principle, regarding evoking change, initially stemmed from the understanding I gained from being involved with many different people from across the region. I understand the adversities people involved in the conflict have to endure, and I also understand how that only adds onto the complexity of the situation.” — Shana Hazboun [Full Statement Read HERE]
