Ophyr, the head of the Center’s ambassador program, conducted an interview with Sofia Arthurs Schoppe, a graduate of the EMIS inaugural class, about her published book named “Conflict (noun)”. This book features testimonies from individuals affected by conflict throughout the Middle East, Eastern and Central Europe.

On June 4th-6th 2020, CRC & EMIS hosted "AM SAGOL" (Purple Nation), an Israeli NGO empowering compassionate leadership, for a three-day long workshop as part of our collaborations with organizations aimed at promoting value-driven, healthy, and tolerant communities. "AM SAGOL" is an association that offers various ways to increase social engagement and empathy towards each other in Israel. The four lead trainers of the workshop were Dr. Shira Pagorek Eshel, Eli Amir, Yaron Davidson, and Ohad Yemini. The workshop included 35 hours of intense experiential exercises on awareness, commitment, personal responsibility, emotional intelligence, and leadership.

Jeffrey Morton, Director of Leon Charney Diplomacy Program, Foreign Policy Association Fellow, Department of Political Science, Florida Atlantic University
Leon Charney, a back-door channel advisor to leaders and diplomats during the Camp David Accords between Israel and Egypt, believed that through dialogue and diplomacy any goal can be achieved. The Leon Charney Diplomacy Program offered by Florida Atlantic University was named in his honor in 2016, starting a fruitful collaboration between the Charney Resolution Center and FAU. I’m excited to be representing the Center when I take the course in the coming fall. I’m looking forward to developing new skills and gaining experience in this field. I decided to interview the head of the course, Professor Jeffrey Morton, to have a better grasp of what is awaiting me and to hear his opinion on the current Corona-virus pandemic. By Jaime Musso

Dear Virus,
With my camera in hand, I’ve covered the most viciously destructive fourteen wars, yet I haven’t seen anything in them that compares to the fighting I see now in the world. Our enemy hides death in layers of its kisses. It conceals itself like a snake in the grass, rattling and startling history to stop in its path. Everyone is targeted. After people become separated and isolated, the enemy showers them with drops of pain and loss of the ones we love. The aggression of the storm is destroying the years of culture we have harvested. Sports, arts, social gatherings and more are no longer. In its first battle, the enemy conquered globalization and opened the door to death, assassinating elements of the lifestyle that we had chosen.
